Halloween 2009

Halloween2009
I took this pic of our pumpkin trio and then when I pulled it onto my computer I noticed it was quite a bit blurry. I planned on reshooting it but the sick kicked into overdrive and things and stuff happened and the next thing you know it’s Halloween day. The pumpkins? Still not carved but thanks to the goddamned squirrels, bits of the rind were nommed off which caused extensive rot to set in. So yeah, no carving happened at the Q house but it was such a sucky Halloween that I’m leaving this pic up and calling it done. BAH!

To Your Scattered Pages Go

The “Read Some Damned Books Initiative” is cooking along pretty good this year (on book 31!) as well as my continuing fascination with ordering the Grad to pull books for me. I love that, the Grad is my book minion! From the comfort of my computer, I can tell the Grad “This book? Fetch it for me.” The Grad always politely reminds me that it would be much faster if I went and got the book from the shelves myself, but if I’m willing to wait it will go out and procure said book for me. I’m always willing to wait and the Grad, being the governing library for all the other University Libraries, in turn gets to tell those libraries, “This book? Fetch it and bring it to me.” This beats the hell out of having to go to North Campus, believe you me.

Originally I was going to be closing on the condo today (yipee) but that’s been postponed. Again. Pfft, like we all didn’t see that coming. People, I have Zeno’s condo closing! I also had a doctor’s appointment the same day so I took it as a vacation day rather than hop in and out of work. Since I’m not closing but still doctoring and it’s a fan-freekin-tastic day I decided to keep it as a random vacation day. Behold!

AppleBaconRoastChicken
The lazy summer days of eating out because the house is too hot to cook in have come to an end so I went looking for some interesting roasted chicken recipes to try out. This one from Recipezaar caught my eye as soon as I saw ‘bacon’. Bacon? Bacon!

So yeah. Cold? We still has it. I was using the cat as a hand warmer the other day since the AC units didn’t make it out of the windows (damned rain!) so the heat still isn’t on. The cat was not so happy to be pressed into impromptu mitten service. Ungrateful little furry hot water bottle. Why are they so warm then if you aren’t supposed to pick them up and use that warmth to thaw out your frozen appendages? I ask you!
