The Friday Five!

Who, What, Where and When. Funny, TheMan and I were just talking about some of these things.

1. If you had the chance to meet someone you’ve never met, from the past or present, who would it be?

Oooo, so many choices. Hmmm…more than likely it would be someone from either the past or the future. I like to know stuff and right now I can’t decide whether I want to know stuff from way-a-way back when, say from ancient Egyptian or maybe even early Chinese dynasty eras or I want to know how things now played out in the future. I guess today I would choose to talk to someone 50 years down the road and find out exactly how much trouble Monsignor Bush has gotten us into. Maybe the director of the CIA or something like that, assuming they would tell me things. Wouldn’t it be cool to know now how the Bush War will effect us in the future? Maybe with that foreknowledge some of this crazy BS can be stopped or averted. Very Dean Koontz-esque there.

2. If you had to live in a different century, past or future, which would it be?

I’d have to say future since so many new advances are being made every day in technology, medicine, science, yadda yadda. It would be interesting to visit the past but I would rather not live in the same era as incurable TB, Black Plague, Polio, Malaria etc. I think I want to live in the century where we actually make positive irrefutable contact with non-earthlings. I hope they are somewhat friendly.

3. If you had to move anywhere else on Earth, where would it be?

Dude, Australia! They speak the same language, they have a beautiful country and they seem really laid back. I can dig laid back.

4. If you had to be a fictional character, who would it be?

Wow, the Friday Five is really asking me to fire up the old brain today. Fictional character. Hmmmmm. Again, so many choices…do I have to pick only one? I think it would be cool to be a Jedi Knight but I know my temperament would entitle me to a one way express ticket to the dark side, do not pass go, do not collect $200. That wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t killing each other off all the time. Why can’t we all get along under my rule? So no on that, unfortunately.

Being an X-man like Long Shot, Nightcrawler or Rogue would be neat but I’d have to put up with Cyclops’s whining all the time and after a while I’d just have to kill him. I think that might upset the whole X-man team thing they got going so that wouldn’t be good either. I’d get to hang with Wolverine though, that’d be cool. I don’t think he’d mind too much if I killed Cyclops either. Hmmmm…

OK, I’m going to go with Creddiki from Startide Rising. It’s the second book in the Uplift Trilogy by David Brin (and my fave book of all time) about humans, aliens, genetic tinkering (Creddiki is a dolphin captain of a starship on its maiden voyage) and how we all just can’t really get along. It’s a really good series and I highly recommend it and being a dolphin with human reasoning and thinking ability? ROCKS!

5. If you had to live with having someone else’s face as your own for the rest of your life, whose would it be?

Errr…well, I don’t really care much whose face I have except that I would want one that was at least an inkling of nice to look at (not so fond of the hideous pizza face freakazoid look these days) and preferably not cutesy pixie like. Something more along the lines of a classic looking face. Also, something my fiance can live with too as he’s got to look at it more than I do.
