Sleepy Hollow

Friday, October 29th, 2004

It’s been a very weird day for the last working day before Halloween. We got in a little late because TheMan has him a case of the snurfles but in doing so (the late, not the snurfles) we got to see some pretty interesting light play between the rising sun, fog and the persistent damp from the rain this morning. Everything was bathed in this faint burnt golden light that brought the yellow of most of the tree leaves popping out. The grass was REALLY GREEN too. It was a particularly vibrant morning with a strange golden pinkish/salmonesque light quality. Totally the kind of light just waiting to be shattered by a blazing pumpkin wielding horseman dude. Pretty darned cool if you ask me!

It’s Getting Harder To Think Up Titles

So lets see, there was the goose thing and the pumpkin thing and the truck go splody thing and now it’s Thursday. Huh!

Our Goose Is Cooked

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004

As usual, I did not post yesterday because it was Tuesday. I don’t know what it is about Tuesdays but for whatever reason I seem to skip them quite a bit. I think it is becoming a booniverse tradition to not post on Tuesday so pretty soon I’ll not even be bothered by the lack of Tuesday blather. It goes hand in hand with the tradition of post dating a JSFR. A blog’s got to have its quirks, right?

Pumpkins, Rain and Die, Truck, Die.

I bet the Greeks were just fooling everybody, Monday really means “I utterly hate this day of the week” in the ancient tongue. Ugh, here’s a resounding BOOOO for Mondays just on account. BOOOO! Why do they always sneak up like that? One minute I’m enjoying my Sunday and the next the alarm is going off reminding me that I need to get up and go to work. How does that happen? That’s it, I’m starting a grass roots movement to make Monday part of the weekend. Maybe I’ll feel more congenial towards it/them if I don’t have to drag my sleepy butt into work at the crack of way to freaking early.

The Weekend Commeth

Friday, October 22nd, 2004

The evening is beginning to bud with options! Why I could go and do stuff and things or be craftsy or industrious. The beginning of a weekend heralds a plethora of possibilities, things, plans, stuff…how’s a girl supposed to choose? Most likely I’ll just choose to take a nap or veg in front of the TV but I could maybe get a tad more done on some craftsy stuff I’ve started while I’m vegging. Multitasking while being lazy, that’s my gig. Actually, I think it’s more guilt free lazing since I’m doing something I need to get done while sitting on my ass. Hey! On that note, I might as well get some laundry napping done. Booyaw.

Black Gold

Thursday, October 21st, 2004

Yes, that would be the filthy engine compartment of my truck and I’d like to point out the most notable phrase here: Engine Oil. If you happened by the Q house on the late side of eight tonight you would have seen me buried up to my shoulders in said compartment trying to swap out filters. Until this evening, I hadn’t actually ever changed the oil in the beast but I used to do it all the time in the Ranger so I figured same old same old only one size bigger. That one size thing? Yeah, that would be the reason I was sitting on the front part of the engine, sprawled out over most of the rest of it with my arm plunged into the deepest darkest guts trying to fiddle the oil filter out of its cradle.

And You Would Be…?

Wednesday, October 20th, 2004

Hi there. Helloooooo? Yeah, over here. It’s me! Me…you know…Me, the boo that writes this blog? Yeah! That Me. Anyway, been a bit of cricketing going on here, save a JSFR (which you all know I write ahead of time because I’m way too lazy to write on the weekends) so I thought I’d stop in. You know, see what was going on, pick up the mail, water the plants, that sort of thing. Heh.

Accidental Low Fat Muffin Review

Monday, October 11th, 2004

Hoooo! It must be a Monday because I see MUFFINS! Everyone at home playing the boo blog game can mark a point down on your papers. So yes, I was the baking Demi-goddess this weekend only because I managed to accidentally make two batches of muffins low fat by forgetting to put any oil in the recipe whatsoever. I totally blame The Joy of Cooking for that because unlike Betty Crocker, who organizes ALL the ingredients (wet to dry for those lazy bakers who like to float and mix their dry ingredients on top of the wet ingredients before mixing everything all together, there by using only one bowl) first and foremost before anything else save the title, Joy does not. No, Joy has to list a couple of (dry) ingredients, then talk about them, then list one or two more, talk about them, list the next one and so on. It is very difficult for me to pick out the ingredients through the layers of how to blah blah between each section. Then, Joy goes and puts something like: 4 to 6 tablespoons of butter or margarine softened to room temperature, which takes up three paragraphs of space and looks to mein eye like how to blah blah. So, I skipped it.
