About the boo

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Hi ho, I’ve had a bit of time to think about a bio page (re: I’m stuck at work after hours waiting for TheMan to finish up with a filming gig and BORED NOW!) so here it is:

Hi! I’m boo, your friendly neighborhood author of the booniverse. I was born in 1970 at the end of January so you do the math and figure out how old I am. I do not feel like remembering to update this page every year with a new age and besides, a little math never hurt anyone right?

I’m married to TheMan since…November 2003. Again with the math.

We live in a Big Ten college town, sorta…or at least in the next town over which might as well be Big Ten College Town Light (less filling, tastes great!). It has a poorer economy but much, MUCH better snow removal practices.

We have two cats: One “applehead” Siamese named Isaak (Buddy, Kitty-Kitty, Dumb-ass, Weirdo, “I”) and one British Short Hair named Vande (rhymes with ‘candy’ and is short for Van de Graaff Generator. She will also not answer to Kitty-Kitty, Dumb-ass, Little Kitty, Pooch, Pooch-cat, Weirdo, Vande-cat). Both cats were born in…arrrgh, math. 1995? Is that right? Yes, 1995. I think I hurt something figuring that out.

Japanese Snack Foods make me giggle, hence why I do a weekly(ish) review of them.

I’m a film major by training but I worked for a very long time in a technical field. Thus, I’m pretty much screwed when it comes to finding work since I don’t have the experience in my field of education and I don’t have the education in the field of my experience. Kids, listen up: Always try to match your career with your education. Just file that tidbit with all the other life changing decisions you are expected to make even though you aren’t even allowed to vote yet. By the way, I’ve solved my education/experience problem by becoming a secretary. The pay and benefits are awesome for the amount of work I actually do. Truly, it’s the cushiest job ever.

I collect elephants, which I’m overrun with, books, which I’m overrun with, DVDs, which I’m overrun with and sake sets, which I’m not yet overrun with but only because I managed to stop myself at 5 sets. I’m not sure if that counts as a collection, really, but I do know that I’m drawn to the things. They are so cuuuuuute! And sake! Yum.

I used to speak German fairly fluently (albeit slow) and I know a bizarre amount of French words despite never studying the language. Damn French, insinuating itself into my head. I can recognize maybe seven Japanese characters and all the Spanish I know can fit on the head of a pin with room to spare. Sometimes I even speak English correctly.
