But I got a zombie pumpkin!

So TheMan and I have a “thing” going in which we’re challenging ourselves to keep the heat off until November 1st. Why? I couldn’t really tell you other than we’ve toughed it out so far from sheer grit and laziness that to give in now and turn the furnace on would be like giving up. It’d also be like being warm but that’s just silly talk! Warm is for wimps!

Besides, November 1st sounded like a nice round date to fire up the heat.

and still wouldn’t be at my door.

The Great Minnesota Memorial Picto-post Part 2

Friday, October 19th, 2007

We got in late on Thursday so we missed the meet and greet over at my mother’s cousin Tom and his lovely wife Jean’s house. So that would be my…second cousin? First cousin once removed? What is your mother’s cousin to you? Would that be second cousin or are second cousins your cousin’s kids? First cousins once removed then? Hold on, lemmie look it up…alrighty! Wikipedia has this to say about cousinship and the answer is…First cousin once removed! For now. Incidentally, your cousin’s kids are also first cousins once removed. I think it has to do with some sort of generational skipping.

And now cousin isn’t sounding like a word anymore.

On the way out of town we ran across this shipping company. TheMan heartily approves. Also, not a bad way to start our 1600 mile trip. Not bad at all.

Beer Ram!

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

So when someone says “The span of time is from October 1st to October 16th” wouldn’t you expect to have all of October 16th to be in the span of time? Or does from X to Y imply that Y isn’t included in the range? I only ask because the Beer Fest in WoW (the game) ran through the 16th, which I assumed would mean that all of the 16th and perhaps a little of the 17th might be Beer Fest days (as the server is on California time and thus we get that fun extra three hours as the sun marches its way from us to the west coast). However, Beer Fest only ran through 11am October 16th since that’s when they shut the servers down for routine maintenance.

June is Blog-stating Out all Over

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

It’s cold and wet and nasty outside like a typical November morning might be except it’s currently October. Tuesday it was in the high 90s like your typical late June day might be except again, it’s October. I wouldn’t mind so much if it were a late warm fall or an early cold fall but I really wish the weather would make up its mind. I’m not so keen on having both within a 48 hour time span.

So! To think back on nicer days, I’ve decided to dink around with the June blog stats. Well, not really but it seemed like a good segue and I thought maybe the weather might be intrigued by the thought of June blog stats and settle down one way or the other. I’m hoping for more June-ish then November-ish but if my June stats make the weather feel all emo and it decides to stay Novemberish, well then at least we’ll have consistency. Dreary, cold, depressing, consistency but consistency none the less. Basically, I’m really not fond of this extreme temperature yo-yoing so let’s think of something else…like blog stats!

JSFR: Mikawaya Mochi (red bean)

Technically red beans and rice but as far from Cajun as you might can possibly get, Mikawaya and the JSFR bring you red bean mochi.
