Trick or Treats

Friday, October 31st, 2008

I took the day off today just on account and it was a good thing too. Long about 2pm I finally figured out how I wanted to carve my 40 pound pumpkin. Behold! Orc(ish) Pumpkin 2008!

NaNoBloMe 2008

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

The baby Jesus tells me that November approaches quite quickly and with that National Novel Writing Month and National Blogging SomethingWhatever Month. Seriously, the blogger’s acronym is completely unfathomable. NaNoWriMo? Catchy. NaBloSomWhatMo? Huh? What? WriBloMoHo. MoMoMoMo? I can’t even figure it out. Heck, the Baby Jesus would be hard pressed to figure that out and he’s godnipotent.

Last Harvest

Friday, October 24th, 2008

It’s been dipping down into the chilly temps the past week or so and someone mentioned “killing frost towards the end of the week”. My hot pepper plants are still flowering and have maturing peppers hanging from them so I’ve been letting them percolate to ripe but killing frost sounds like something that will stop a pepper in its tracks. Thus, I made a plan to go out Thursday or Friday and pick everything that wasn’t a budding flower from my garden.

Weekend-y Stuff

Monday, October 20th, 2008

20th of October? Wow (the expression), time is in a big hurry to get to wherever it’s going isn’t it? I’m a little shocked that it’s the bottom half of October already (and my decorations aren’t even out!!). I wonder if I still have time to do some garden prep stuff…I really should have gotten the back garden ripped out and the food garden all wrastled down but that didn’t so much happen. I think there is still time to do some basic lawn destruction before the end of the year. Maybe. On the other hand, I might wake up tomorrow and discover that it is December so…

Foolproof Plans Are Hard to Come By, Son!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

There was going to be a bit of a carpooling dilemma today because TheMan had to work late but I solved it by taking a vacation day. BOOYAW! I love getting 2 vacation days a month (on top of all the regularly scheduled U holidays) because every time I look at my accumulation I have even more vacation days! I can take one here and take one there and I still have two full weeks in reserve. I can even take a big ticket vacation (Origins, etc.) and BAMN! The vacation pool magically replenishes itself and then some. LOVE!

Northern Bean Soup
