Spicy Black Bean Soup
TheMan takes a turn at sniffering out cool recipes so I can post them. The original recipe is here and if you clicky more you will see how TheMan was inspired.
INGREDIENTS
2 x 14 oz cans black beans
1 tsp salt
3 small cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp pepper
1 1/2 tsp thyme
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 cube chicken bouillon
1/2 cup carrots, chopped
1/2 onion, minced
1 stalk celery, diced
1/2 green pepper, minced
1/2 cup dry red wine
2 turkey bratwurst, chopped
1 1/2 cups water (1 bean-can’s worth)
INSTRUCTIONS
Add all ingredients to slow-cooker and cook 8-10 hours on low.
PRODUCTION NOTES
1. The original recipe was for a ginormous stock pot which TheMan discovered as he was puttering about with the ingredients. Our stock pot is not so huge. The original recipe calls for 4 cups of water, 4 cans of beans and more stuff which…after 4 cups of water anything else would have cause a crockpot tsunami. Well, maybe it’s not that small but he did have to do some jiggering to make sure we didn’t have crock pot disaster.
2. TheMan says, “This recipe has red wine and black beans, if you spill it on your good linens there is nothing in the world that will get the stain out.” I wore black so all was good!
3. This smells fantastic and is just as tasty. Mmmmm.

That sounds awesome. If we have another soup exchange (and I hope we do!), that would be a great contribution ๐
PS: for some ungodly reason, I can’t post on your blog when I’m at home so I must wait until my prep hour at school
