Japanese Snack Food Review: Tohato Caramel Corn: (mango)

TohatoMango.jpg

I’m thinking Tohato needs to have their own category in the Snack Food database because look! Another flavor. This one is mango and as best I can tell you it sure has the mango whiff going for it. I opened these up and POW! Mango. Sadly, mango and I just don’t get along so I can’t give you a first hand review. That doesn’t stop me from inflicting it on my Guinea Pigs though. This is what they had to say.

First off, there is less of the dusty cheese poof coating on the mango Tohato then there was on the strawberry, green tea or chocolate. This is a good thing, for it means you can eat mango Tohato at your computer and not get the keyboard all Tohato-y. There is also a slight micro-coating of crunchity, much like the vanilla ice Tohato but less so. The base corn doodle is the same crispity and melt in your mouth-y like all the other Tohato corn doodles but the bonus feature for mango Tohato is that mango coloring and corn doodle coloring are almost the same color. No odd surprises there for once.

As for the flavor, the G Pigs said there was a burst of mango taste along with the crispity crunchity melty. They even decided that if Froot Loops came in mango, these would totally be them, except for the loopy part. I also heard mango flavored crunchberry floating around so take your pick. I think the key here is mango, crunchy and sweet. They all seemed to really enjoy the mango variety of Tohato caramel corn snack and decided to give them a

rating

of 4 Wasabi Peas out of a possible 5.
