In Excelsis Deo

Heh, if you haven’t figured it out already, December is not only going to be a blog-a-day month but it will continue on with the musical lyrical titular theme a la Christmas. Oh yes it will. I’m picking excerpts from my list of “Christmas Carols That Do Not Suck” so don’t be lookin for any Grandmas and errant reindeer any time soon (like ever). Loathe that song. Today’s song, however, is ever so much fun to sing with the Glooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooooooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooooooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooooooor-ria and any time I can sing some cool sounding Latin is fun in my book. I don’t even know what “in excelsis deo” means, other than I’m pretty sure deo is day (you know-‘Deo! Deeee-eee-ee-ee-o! Deo-light come and me want to go hoo-oom!’ Heh) and I’d guess that excelsis is some form of the word ‘excellent’. Gloria in this excellent day? Good enough for me!

And the best part is that the title isn’t any of these lines. I couldn’t even remember what the title was except I thought it might have to do with angels. Always a safe bet around Christmas.

Doooo you want a banana?. Other than tying in to the whole ‘Day-o’ thing above it has nothing to do with Carols. Well, other than the fact that it is a song I guess. And wait! Check this out: My dad’s first exchange student once was explaining how completely nuts the neighbors had gone with the Christmas lighting but expressed it as “They’ve got bananas!” So you see? Now I’ve linked bananas and Christmas. Anyhow, I’ve been singing this song all day long so now I must pass on the insanity. Go take a peek, I’ll wait. This banana’s for you.

It’s Monday (Day 5 of the December Challenge) and the perfect time for a Gloooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooooor-rious weekend review. Natch. I’m going to do a little Sunday blurbing just to let you know (if you haven’t already figured it out) that TheMan is doing a Sunday JSFR guest spot for my month of continuous blogging. However, I didn’t think it was very fair for me to have a day off while he had an extra day (we came to the Sunday Guest Spot arrangement before I issued him a challenge) so I’m doing a Sunday Guest spot over there. If the change in JSFR voice threw you Sunday (assuming you didn’t just faint dead away when you discovered a double JSFR weekend posting) now you know why. He’ll be here all month on Sunday so if you are a TheMan fan, you can get an extra dose of him then. And if you are a JSFR junkie, you’ll get an extra dose of that then too. If you are a groupie of both then you will probably be twitching on the floor in paroxysms of ecstasy. In excelsis deo!

OH! Right. The rules of the December Challenge, which I should have stated right off but didn’t (deal) are: A post every day in the month of December. Posts that are made bloggically (new word!) the next day but are actually still part of the contiguous day you’ve been up for count as blogging for the day you woke up in. This may result in the blog showing two posts for one day and none for the previous but it all counts good in my book. Also, post dating is allowed as it is nearly a standard of blogging to which the booniverse aspires. Wouldn’t want to upset the nature of things by posting promptly. I think in that event the index page explodes or something of that ilk. However! The limit to post dating is three day past the day the entry was supposed to be posted.

Friday! We did some gaming over at TheRCK and Mssr. Gonkweasel’s and I managed to rock Baby D’s world by drawing her dinosaurs. She’s way into the ‘sauruses and can rattle off all the pltheiolaryxangeosaurs and the dphthenolphthleneasaurs and the ichthycoxylthaziosaurs like she was saying ‘apple’. It’s actually quite daunting the way her young mind tells her mouth to whip out an Alplesioraptocephelusopodasaurus while my brain is still stuck on ‘Apple-Aphl-Appa-ahhh….Alpacasaurus?’ Anyway, I can only really draw maybe 10 basic dinosaur shapes and what with there being about a gazillion different dinosaurs, it’s a pretty poor repertoire. However, Baby D was agog by the drawing of the ‘saurs and we had a bunch of fun trying to figure out what I had drawn by referencing her dinosaur book. It may have been the first time Baby D had come across the concept that dinos didn’t all have to exist in a book and that you can make dinos any time you wanted to. Of course, the much better drawn dinos really only exist in books. At least when I get a hold of a pen and paper. Maybe I’ll post some of my 1337 dinosaur pictures for y’all.

Saturday sucked mighty suckage as I was down with the ‘Little Bit Bug’. That’s when you have a little bit of a headache, a little bit of a stomach ache, a little bit of a sore throat, a little bit of a…well you get the point. Any one of the symptoms would have been annoying but livable however I had maybe 5 mild classic cold symptoms all at once and it made me cran-kay! I also slept from noon until 6 so maybe I did have Little Bit Cold.

Sunday I felt better so we went zooming out and about with the truck. We were commissioned to play Santa by one of our friends and pick up a little something something because we had a truck and we didn’t live with the recipient. No worries, we do a lot of present-sitting so that the intended doesn’t accidentally stumble onto their gift putting away socks or what have you. What I didn’t count on was the fact that this present was a tad more awkward than I had envisioned. Like “how the hell are we going to deal with this?” awkward. Hmmmm! We bounced ideas around until we decided that the easiest solution was to just leave the little something something in the truck and put the whole kit and caboodle into the garage. Lazy? Perhaps. But we now have half a clean garage filled with truck.

I also got a whole pack of JSFR stuff done yesterday including scamming some fresh pickings. Reviews for the rest of December are scheduled, photographed and in most cases the reviews are written. The only one I haven’t yet penned is this coming Saturday’s review. How does that work? I even have New Year’s Eve’s tasty review done but this Saturday? Not so much. Ahhh well. It’ll give me something to do in the evenings to come that isn’t Law & Order or WoW.

Last year at the booniverse: JSFR: Toppo

Last last year at the boonverse: Do I get to say “Off with their heads?” because I really think that would be cool.
