Freue, Freue Dich, O Christenheit!

Here is the second of the three German carols that I know. The last one is O Tannenbaum, which I have in the English version (I think) and will not subject you to the dual worded columns of doom. Your welcome.

O du fröhliche, o du selige,
Gnadenbringende Weihnachtszeit!
Welt ging verloren,
Christ ist geboren,
Freue, freue dich, o Christenheit!

O du fröhliche, o du selige,
Gnadenbringende Weihnachtszeit!
Christ ist erschienen,
Uns zu vershnen,
Freue, freue dich, o Christenheit!

O du fröhliche, o du selige,
Gnadenbringende Weihnachtszeit!
Himmlische Heere
Jauchzen dir Ehre,
Freue, freue dich, o Christenheit!

O you merry, o you blessed,
Merciful Christmastide!
The world was lost,
Christ was born,
Rejoice, rejoice o Christendom!

O you merry, o you blessed,
Merciful Christmastide!
Christ appeared,
To reconcile us,
Rejoice, rejoice o Christendom!

O you merry, o you blessed,
Merciful Christmastide!
Heavenly hosts,
Exult your honor,
Rejoice, rejoice o Christendom!

Man, I *hate*!!! these German entries because there’s something with the lines and the breaks that had to be done or undone to get the German and the English side by side. BAH! Now I have to hand code all the brs and brackets or the entry starts to go all wonky. I have half a mind to just let it go and see what happens but I don’t have enough pictures to make it really coolly wacky. And I’m lazy.

Oh, here’s a weirdness; when MomQ and I were making grilled hammmm and cheese sammiches , I started singing an impromptu a broiling hammmm and cheese sammiches song to the tune of O du fröhliche and MomQ joined right in. I didn’t think anybody knew the tune and yet, O du hammmiches! I’m not sure if that was really cool or rather frightening.

So what’s been going on up north eh? Mostly we’ve been relaxin and taking it ridiculously easy. The most activity we’ve done, really, is the geocaching yesterday. Today DadQ was out doing this and that and something or other which resulted in TheMan climbing onto the roof at one point in time. I don’t know, I was inside drinking hot cocoa. I think it had something to do with putting the chimney back up on the work shed in back.

There was some amusement around lunch time when a troupe of squirrels decided to assault the bird feeders. Did you know that bird feeders weren’t meant to feed squirrels? The squirrels don’t. They tried everything to some degree of success to get up on those feeders and I got several of their attempts on tape. Heh heh. Two of the mob seemed very accomplished at feeder robbing and were lickety bamn hopping from windowsill to feeder like they were born acrobats. The third one spent more time on the ground than he did in the feeders or plummeting to the ground after he missed the feeders. He was not quite so accomplished.

Yeah, squirrels and a trip to Thill’s fish shop were the highlights of my day. It’s a great vacation. It’s also almost midnight so I’ll leave you with my squirrel film work. Clicky the pics for crazy squirrel movie action.

Last year at the booniverse: Hey, what, no heat? OK! Nap time.

Last last year at the booniverse: Good…errr…is it Tuesday? I don’t know, I’ve sort of lost track of time and space over the holiday.

The year before at the booniverse: Squirrels ate my brain and the update too.
