\nWell, not THE ring. It’s an old family heirloom that belonged either to my great-grandmother or to her sister. We’re not sure… It was in with my grandmother’s jewelry though, and it’s very old…<\/p>\n

It’s sort of a placeholder ring, as far as I know… My mom brought it down at thanksgiving and gave it to my sister to give to me. The first I knew about it was Friday evening.<\/p>\n

My fiancee is a bit worried about wearing a ring… She’s active and athletic and has an occasional habit of finding bruises on her extremities. Her general reaction to that is to say, “Oh yeah… I remember bumping into something and thinking that it would leave a bruise…” Usually when I ask what it was she bumped into she says “I don’t remember…”<\/p>\n

At any rate, she’s worried about how much damage she might accidentally inflict on a ring. For her engagement diamond we’re going to do something in a pendant instead… Her mom and her grandmother have given her their engagement diamonds, so it’ll have all sorts of family connections.<\/p>\n

We will have rings though… We’re looking at having our wedding rings made for us by a jeweler in the U.P. that my parents have worked with in the past.
