I can quit any time I like, ok? It’s fun to see how people get here, since I don’t exactly go out of my way to advertise. Most people get here through Google searches, but there are a few links to here from other people’s web logs. Cody Clark over at Overflow found my 1kbwc database and linked to it. On the other hand, Arthur Jennings over at timeistight seems to have picked my name at random from the Blogging Ecosphere over at The Truth Laid Bear.

That’s fine by me. I can respect randomness.

But it got me to thinking about the links that I’ve got on my front page. They’re at the bottom of the navigation collumn there on the right, so go ahead and take a look. I don’t really need to justify having links to friends or to my Fiancee, but the other ones over there are various writers that I’ve been reading for a while.

Andy Ihnatko? Great stuff. His Colossal Waste of Bandwidth should be required reading for all geeks, especially those of the Mac persuasion. If he ever puts together a printed collection of his columns, I’d buy it in hardcover. It’s almost impossible to read him without laughing out loud, and my only complaint is that he doesn’t update his site more often. One of his more recent bits, about the serial streaker known as the Naked Jogger Of Binghamton, New York had me in tears…

I suppose the one that’s got me a bit ticked is James Lileks. Every so often I start to wonder why I bother reading the Bleat. He’s a funny, intelligent writer with good taste in music and computers. He’s great fun to read when he’s talking about whatever bit of fluffy nostalga has piqued his interest. I even like his more serious stuff about his family or his home. But lately he’s been banging the political drum, and he’s starting to become… boring. I keep waiting for him to make a serious argument in support of his position, but he just keeps on repeating the same right-wing talking points over and over. In some dark way, I kind of hope we do invade Iraq. Maybe his writing will improve.

I’m not obsessive about checking the referrer log, but I do it every so often.
