According to an article in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/content\/28\/29855.html\">The Register<\/a>, a group of Irish Americans from county Monaghan ditched their traditional banners for the New York St. Patrick&#8217;s Day parade because &#8220;said standard carries an outline map of Monaghan, which bears an uncanny resemblance to an outline map of Iraq.&#8221;<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nJudge for yourself:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quirkspace.com\/archives\/images\/IrelandIraq.gif\"><\/p>\n<p>Pay particular attention to the caption they put on the image&#8230; The confusion is understandable&#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Update: According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/content\/28\/29864.html\">a follow-up<\/a> article, the mislabeling of the graphic was intentional and was due to the alleged British sense of humor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is fun.
