\nActually, I did three versions of the logo. I like them all, but this one is my favorite. Of course, having said that, the client will pick one of the other two designs. This always<\/b> happens…<\/p>\n

It could be worse. We had a job in last week that started simple but built up a rather hefty “J” factor by the end…<\/p>\n

I should probably explain that. The “J” factor is a rather simple mathematical function that applies to billing. After you’ve worked out the cost for time and materials, multiply the result by the number of times the client has made you mutter “JEEZUS!”<\/p>\n

Anyway, working from a client sketch, I was supposed to create a T-shirt design with a logo character and some text. The character was a heart shaped mannikin with arms and legs. The heart would have a stars-and-stripes design, and the critter would be holding an arc of text above it with the slogan for the event.<\/p>\n

Fairly simple, right?<\/p>\n

Unfortunately it went through revision after revision… The event sponsor kept coming to our client with changes. First the arms and legs were too muscular. Then they were the wrong color, they needed to be flesh colored. I asked our client “What kind of flesh? People are all sorts of different colors.” “Not in the sponsor’s neighborhood. Just make it pinkish, ok?” Finally they wanted the reds and blues in the stars-and-stripes pattern to be closer to the color of the ones they’d used in their sketch, which turned out to be a scan of the pattern in their bathroom WALLPAPER<\/b>…<\/p>\n
