I was just too darn tired by the time I was done with the weekend projects. On the other hand, if I can keep up the level of activity that I had on Sunday, I won’t feel as if I’ve fallen too far off my workout schedule.

I’m not sure of the exact weight of a box of books… Hardcover and paperback weigh different amounts, the paper stock makes a difference too… There’s just too many variables. On the other hand, I can make a guess. We used old copier paper boxes, so they measured 11 x 17 x 10ish. That’s 1710 cubic inches. A 500 sheet ream of 20 pound bond paper weighs 5 pounds, which works out to about .425 ounces per cubic inch. Add a bit for the heavier cover stock, subtract a bit for the empty space and we’ll say each box of books weighed in at roughly 40 pounds.

So, yesterday’s workout involved taking eight 40 pound weights from the condo to the truck, and then from the truck up the stairs to the library. A nice combination of cardiovascular workout and weightlifting.

I’m gonna head off on a work related rant for a bit… I’ve mentioned before that it’s a good idea to proof your poster before it gets printed full sized. It’s also a good idea, if we’re doing the design and layout, to give us the text and figures that you actually want to see on the poster. If you take a look at your layout and then decide that you want to replace the text and figures with totally new ones, you need to realize that you’ve just given us a completely new poster.

No entry yesterday.
