Well, it looks like I missed out on a chance to be part of a Salon<\/a> article on “Groom Blogs.” I’d gotten an e-mail about it a couple days ago, but it got shuffled off to my slush pile. Probably just as well. I don’t really consider this a “Groom Blog” any more than I consider it a “Photography Blog” or a “Wine Blog.” Being a groom and the related wedding stuff is just an extension of the stuff that I usually blather on about. Getting married is a huge and important part of my life, but not going to make it my sole writing subject.

\nSome of the ‘blogs mentioned in the article go into far<\/b> more detail than I’d want to get into here. For example, I’m not going to give many details about the bachelor party… We had dinner and then headed off to a strip club somewhere around Inkster… It was near to the airport and the auto manufacturing areas. My friends who work in the various auto industries are much more knowledgeable than I am about those sorts of places. There are a lot more of them out near where they work than there are where I work. I guess manufacturing attracts more strip clubs than, say, a university hospital. Anyway, I’d like to keep my mythical PG rating, so I’m not going to go into details here. Maybe later.<\/p>\n

Back to the wedding subject, my Fiancee and I headed over to the county courthouse yesterday at lunch and had fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the “Group W” bench…<\/p>\n

Whoops! I mean at the records office! Geez, it’s still a month away from Thanksgiving, and I’ve already got “Alice’s Restaurant<\/a>” on the brain. Sorry about that.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we got the paperwork in, held up our hands and promised that we’d read the little laminated handout of the marriage laws, paid $20 and ta-dah! we’re on the three day waiting list for a marriage license. I find it kind of amusing in a sick sort of way that there’s a three day wait to get a marriage license in Michigan, but there’s no waiting period to buy a gun<\/a>.<\/p>\n
