It can be something of a barrier to folks who are trying to learn English as a second language.  Imagine all of the different phrases you&#8217;d need be taught, simply to ask someone for directions&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s two that stick in my head immediately:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you know the way to San Jose?&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re at all musically inclined, you&#8217;ve now got both those tunes warring for simultaneous space in your brain&#8230;  You&#8217;re welcome.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nRight now, my head is occupied with some sort of cold, or sinus blockage or infection.  Something that, for the sake of simplicity, I&#8217;m going to refer to as &#8220;The Ear Thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Ear Thing is strange.  It&#8217;s not painful, nor do I feel particularly ill.  I just seem to have a poor sense of balance.  Everything seems like it&#8217;s being dragged slowly to the right.  Sitting down and writing doesn&#8217;t bother me too much.  I can kind of ignore it as a background nuisance, like loud rap music from a passing car outside.  Walking is a bit of a bother.  It&#8217;s a thousand times better than it had been this morning though.
