The photogs have digital cameras and they shoot between 200-400 pictures at each event. Between events, they stop by the office and transfer the pictures to me. I go through and pick the best shots for use on the web, then I crop, rotate, scale & convert them before uploading them to the site server where the page layout crew puts them up for public consumption.
\n
\nThere are roughly nine events every day, plus opening and closing ceremonies, which means that I’m going to be sorting through about ten thousand photos before the games are through. Sorting, rotating, cropping… I’ve got batch processes for things like converting them to web sized images, so that speeds things up a bit.<\/p>\n
Another advantage is that I don’t actually have to start working on things until the photographers are actually back from events. This means I get to sleep in a bit… Of course, I wind up staying up late at night to finish the images they bring later in the day, so I guess it kind of balances out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The Transweb site is being updated as we speak.
