I haven’t written for a while, for a couple of reasons. First off, I was enjoying the vacation from work and decided to give myself a bit of a vacation from writing at the same time. Second, there wasn’t a huge bunch of things going on that I wanted to write about. And the volumes of writing about how there isn’t much to write about is possibly the most egregious crime that will be laid at the feet of the inventors of blogging software when the revolution comes…

\nOf course, now there’s stuff happening. For one thing, my wife & I are hosting the in-laws’ dogs whilst they enjoy a vacation. That means puppy-proofing the house, as much as that can be done. We’re thinking of it as practice for potential future childproofing.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, for a kid, we won’t need to plot out travel zones with special attention to the availability of food and drink. As it is, we’ve moved the expandable gate to keep the dogs off of the kitchen carpet, for easier cleanup of any ‘accidents.’ We’ve also created an ad-hoc barrier out of a card table tilted up on its side in the hallway to keep the animals out of each others food. It’s a bit of a high step to get over it, but it should help preserve the peace between Lucy and the cats.<\/p>\n
When we dropped the cats off at the in-laws’ before we headed up north, we got to see how Lucy reacted to strange animals. She tried very hard to be brave, but the close proximity of a cranky Isaac sent her backing away barking madly to alert us to the presence of the monster<\/i>!!! We’d hoped that the two weeks we were gone would have helped mellow the reaction, but when we picked the cats back up the reaction was still pretty much the same.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
