What it’s all about

Re-read my little blurb from yesterday and realized that I should probably write about what the big project is…

For a couple years, I’ve been part of the Smithee Awards. Basically, a viewer’s choice award ceremony for bad movies. I’m one of the video editors who assembles the show (the other one has a LiveJournal ‘blog with the amazingly appropriate user name of BadMovie). In addition to my video editing duties, I’m the “Guru of Graphics.” Usually this involves making posters to direct our audience to the room that we’ve been moved to at the last minute…

A couple years ago, I did a series of title slides for each of our bad movie voting categories. We’ve been using them for quite a while and they’re beginning to seem a little outdated. Just to give an idea of how old they are, I did the layout using Strata Studio Pro on a Powerbook 180… Technology has advanced considerably since then, so I’ve decided to go with animated titles rather than just still slides…

Read on to take a look. Again, you’ll probably need the latest version of Quicktime to view the videos…

Not much time to write

I’m working on a project that I’m presenting this Saturday, so I haven’t had much time to write. Tomorrow isn’t looking good either.

We’ll see.

Ars Moderna

I admit it, I’m a gaming geek… Fortunately so is my Fiancee, so there’s little danger of her becoming a dice widow.

Elixir of life

Carbonated water, caramel color, aspartame, phosphoric acid, potassium benzonate, caffeine, citric acid and ‘natural flavors’.

Why natural flavors? Did they run out of bottles in their junior chemist “Fun with Science!” play set?

I mean, you can make a lot of different flavors from 100% natural ingredients. Not all of them are ones you’d want to lay claim to.

Notes from the Gaping Void

I used to have a page of reviews of various online comics. It’s archived somewhere, because I never throw anything away if I can avoid it. I’ll put it back up eventually, maybe as entries from here if I can’t think of anything else to write some day.

Anyway, I ran into a new online comic today. Well, it’s not exactly a comic. It’s sort of a tragic.

An hour and a half!

It’s been less than a month since there was snow on the ground. How could people have forgotten how to drive on it?

Normally the commute between Ypsi and Ann Arbor doesn’t take ninety minutes. Today was an exception. I’m tempted to bring my camera along on my lunch break and take some pictures of the springtime winter that we’ve got going on.
