Another picture of a flowering plant that I can’t accurately identify. At least not with any degree of horticultural precision. I mean, I can point at it and say “Hey, that’s the same kind of tree that grows around the circle drive outside the hospital!” but I can’t tell you what kind of tree it is.
All I know is that if Barbara Walters asked me what kind of tree I’d like to be, this wouldn’t be it.

Did an update to one of the intertitle movies last night. It took all night to render, mostly because I turned on motion blurring…
Actually, I had a strange dream about these video projects. Basically, I was doing all my work at some computer superstore so that I could render it on different machines at the same time. Unfortunately, when I wanted to show one of my friends something that I’d done, I discovered that the computer I’d been working on had been sold.
Anyway, the revised “Overkill” title is in the main entry. It incorporates some suggestions from my Fiancee, it requires Quicktime 6 to view, contents may have settled during shipping, etc.

Re-read my little blurb from yesterday and realized that I should probably write about what the big project is…
For a couple years, I’ve been part of the Smithee Awards. Basically, a viewer’s choice award ceremony for bad movies. I’m one of the video editors who assembles the show (the other one has a LiveJournal ‘blog with the amazingly appropriate user name of BadMovie). In addition to my video editing duties, I’m the “Guru of Graphics.” Usually this involves making posters to direct our audience to the room that we’ve been moved to at the last minute…
A couple years ago, I did a series of title slides for each of our bad movie voting categories. We’ve been using them for quite a while and they’re beginning to seem a little outdated. Just to give an idea of how old they are, I did the layout using Strata Studio Pro on a Powerbook 180… Technology has advanced considerably since then, so I’ve decided to go with animated titles rather than just still slides…
Read on to take a look. Again, you’ll probably need the latest version of Quicktime to view the videos…

On Friday night we headed out to a birthday party at a place called Kart 2 Kart, an indoor go-kart racing place. It was a lot of fun and I discovered that, when it comes to racing, I make a pretty good photographer. It’s not that I don’t enjoy whipping around a hairpin turn in an overpowered riding lawnmower, I’m just not very good at it.
