Budding Twigs

TwigBuds.jpg
Yet more signs of spring! The trees outside the office have tiny leaves starting to peek out of the buds.

And yes, I’m posting a lot of pictures this week. I’m doing a lot of Smithee stuff, so I’m too busy to write much. I’m falling back on the whole 1 picture = 1000 words thing and I’m hoping the exchange rate remains that favorable.

Sprouts

WallSprouts.jpg
Plants in an orderly queue. These guys up against the wall are about two or three inches taller than their compatriots further afield… I’m not sure if they just get better water and sun where they are or if their closeness to the wall protected them when the other ones were trimmed down.

Grey bird

GreyBird.jpg
A bird at the feeder on the back of my in-laws’ house. I don’t know what kind of bird… My mom probably would. She’s got the whole bird watching and identification thing going for her… It’s a skill that I’ve never acquired. On the other hand, after years of working tech support, I can identify different types and vintages of Macintosh computers just from a glance at the front bezel… Usually the opportunity crops up when watching movies and TV shows. It’s a completely useless chunk of knowledge, sort of the geek equivalent of knowing the stats for baseball games and players from the early 1900’s.

It is Michigan…

PorchSnow.jpg
And, of course, one of the surest signs of spring in Michigan… Snow! Big wet flakes were falling from the sky last night on the way home after Smithee editing… Very annoying, especially since I’d left my jacket in the office.

Red Maple in the Spring

RedMapleFlower.jpg
The red maple from last year is getting ready to go into leaf… These spiky clusters of flowers and buds are at the ends of each twig, giving the whole tree a festive appearance. It’s like someone decorated it by gluing tiny red pom-poms all over it.

What’re You Lookin’ at?

SpringSqurl04.jpg
Ah, spring… The croci are sprouting, the grass is green, and the paranoid squirrels are running around, staring in terror at anything that gets near them.

Turbo Zamboni

The Zamboni from the hockey game last weekend. The image is a link to a 3.4 MB quicktime movie with slightly sped up action and with a hopefully recognizable soundtrack. (Zamboni still photo by my Wife!)

There’s a better quality, 11 MB movie here.

Noises off

If I recall correctly, I threatened to post some of my GarageBand stuff a while ago and never got around to it… This should rectify that. Think of it as part of some background music from the soundtrack to a movie that doesn’t yet exist. It’s called “Desert Wanderings.”

Leaves leave

Tea_Leaves.jpg
I’m low on tea. This is Twinings “Gunpowder Green” looseleaf tea, and I’m down to the dregs and stems. I drink tea when the breakroom coffee is particularly foul.

Salt Those Fries!

A little bit of found art here from when my sister was working at a fast food place some years ago…
