One and a third…

My Wife & I added a cache to our tally over the weekend. Actually, it was closer to a cache and a third, but more about that later… Scott H was our transportation captain.

We hit one cache in a little park near an apartment that I used to live. Cache GCJJ1G for those of you playing the home game… It was a really nice walk through a very interesting park, especially because it was one that I’d lived right next to but hardly even knew about.

The second cache was kind of annoying. I hadn’t realized it was a multi-step cache, where each one you find points to the next one on the list. We found the first part in a little tupperware box after wasting a lot of time looking for the big pretzel jar that is actually at the third location… By then our GPS was low on battery power and we were hungry for lunch, so we called it a day.

I did find a cell phone though. It belonged to a ‘cacher who had been by the day before. He lived right across the street from the woods with the cache, so he was able to stop by and get the phone quite quickly after Scott did some detective work and let him know it had been found.

Handy hint for cell phone users: put an entry in your address book for “Call If Found.” If you don’t want to do that, one marked “Mom” works pretty well too, if you don’t mind her getting calls asking which one of her family members has recently lost a cellphone.
