It’s nice to be back.

Even though I’m going to miss some of the luxuries of the hotel life (high speed internet! Free breakfasts!), it’s good to sleep in my own house again. Or at least to doze for a few minutes until the cats decide that it’s time to charge across the bed in a stampede of feline feet.

How many cats do you need for an actual stampede, anyway? Two? Eight? A dozen? I don’t know… I suspect it changes as an inverse ratio to how dark the room is. You need a lot of cats in full daylight, but late at night two cats can stampede like a full herd.

Every year…

I don’t know how they manage it here at Origins… They screw up something about the Smithee awards. Either they shuffle us from room to room, or they don’t print something vitally important (like the TIME of the show) in the convention book.

This year, they listed us as a “Sold Out” event.

Which is tough, considering that we don’t have any tickets to be sold out of…

Oh, hi yo…

We’re in a very comfy hotel in Columbus. The Drury Hotel right next door to the convention center. They’ve got free high-speed internet in the rooms, so I’ve got the airport hub hooked up, and with the two P’books and the iBook, we’ve got three of us able to surf and search. We are stylin’ geeks here!

Canard minuscule

The ducks have hatched! I missed getting a picture of one of the cute fuzzy duck tykes by just a second… I had the lens cap off and was bringing the camera up to my eye and it went and hid under mom. Given that it’s already nearly 80 degrees and humid, I don’t envy them their choice of housing today. I could be wrong, but I can’t think that there’s any way you could be very comfortable on a sultry day with a hot feathery duck sitting on your head.

Bad start

I hate when I make stupid mistakes. I’m starting the morning off restoring files from backup tape. It could be worse though… We could be without a backup system at all.

Which actually reminds me of a kind of bizarre story…

It’s a sort of game

If I had to pick a name for it, I suppose it’d be the “Harry Potter Death Pool.” By now, unless you’ve been living under a rock or something, you’ve probably heard that someone close to Harry dies in the latest book. Given the way that my Fiancee and I are pacing ourselves by reading the book together, we’ve been able to discuss the plot without having to worry about spoiling things for each other. And, of course, one of the topics of discussion has been, “Who dies, how, and why?”

Accursed work ethic!

Here I am, working away, and there’s all sorts of other tempting things that I could be doing! I’m the only guy in the office today, so there’s no easy way to take a break. OfficeKevin should be back tomorrow though.

At least I’m not a duck. They don’t seem to get any breaks. Yes, the duck is still sitting there by the trailer, same as last week. I think she looks disgruntled.

But never mind the duck!

The last animation!

Inane Dialogue!

It’s kinda creepy…

And all of the animations are listed on one page, so any updates (like the new bit of string on the “Worst Special Effect” animation) will be posted there.

Movie Mayhem continues…

Ok… For a bit of contrast from the last post, here’s the list of the IMDB’s bottom 100 films… As before, the ones I’ve seen are in bold.

Movie Mooching!

Totally swiped from my Fiancee, who totally swiped it from Alessar… It’s the “Top 100 Films” list!
