A fan of the web comic Achewood has created a web site dedicated to the Great Outdoor Fight. What’s really keen is that he’s set it up as a Wiki, and is allowing reader contributions. I’ve already added histories for a couple of fighters… It’s a fun writing exercise to play in someone else’s sandbox like this.

Last August, I posted something about a site with a bunch of old 78 RPM records all cleaned up and available for download. Turns out that there’s a monstrously huge library of old Edison wax cylinder records all downloadble from the University of California, Santa Barbara Library. Very very neat.

Cooked up stir-fry tonight with some wonderful sweet Yakatori soy sauce that my folks got us for Christmas. It was part of a collection of Japanese stuff they got at an auction. It’s really, really tasty.. And unfortunately it’s not going to be easy to get any more of it.

Ok, the DBD::MySQL problem that’s been vexing me for about a week is taken care of. I had to reinstall the entire MySQL system from binary packages to do it, but it all works now.
For you non-computer types out there, installing from binaries after trying to build a program from source is sort of the equivalent of having some engine trouble, trying to fix it yourself, and then buying a new car that looks almost exactly like your old one rather than dealing with the smoking heap of twisted wreckage that your inept wrenchwork created.
