Thanksgiving weekend is over, and everyone survived!
Granted, we’re practically spherical from excessive turkey consumption, but soon we should deflate enough that we can waddle around…
Ok… we didn’t eat THAT much… I was pretty out of it on Friday morning, so maybe I did, but it was all so good…
Despite my Friday morning incapacitaiton, quite a bit was accomplished. The Wedding Dress Furies must have taken an extended Thanksgiving break too, as my Fiancee found a great dress at the first place she looked… Of course, I won’t get to see it for almost a year, but I trust her.
Saturday was an installment of the excellently mutated GURPS Traveller campaign. After that was a ‘Welcome Home’ party for a friend of mine who is taking some journalism courses in the Washington DC area. It was great fun hanging out, and there was even more good food, including some “Forgotten Cranberry Orange Apple Crisp.”
I’m not sure of the exact recipie for that one, but it starts when you realize that you’ve forgotten the cranberry orange relish that you were bringing to Thanksgiving dinner and that you’ve now got to find an alternate way of serving it…
Despite the late hours on Saturday, we got up early on Sunday morning and went to my sister’s church to meet the pastor and see about having the wedding service there next fall. It was a lot easier than I expected, and he seemed amused by how relieved I was about the whole thing. We stayed for the service, of course, and I’m probably going to be attending on at least a semi-regular basis now.
As a side note, part of the service was a christening for a kid who has one of the more unfortunate names I’ve run into for a while: Zachary Duda.
I hope he goes by his middle name. Otherwise I predict lots of schoolyard bullies singing in his future.
