Short Movie from Saturday

Ok, if this works, you’ll be able to click on the picture of Freddy and a movie will load of him doing the ‘White Ape steals Peaches’ (I think) kung-fu form. It’s fairly small (about 1 megabyte) but it’s still about twenty times the file size of my photos so I didn’t want it to autoload when the page was viewed.

You’ll probably need the latest version of Quicktime to see it… You can get that here:

Freddy’s a cool guy… One of the jokes we had when my Fiancee and I were just starting to date was that Freddy was her dojo-boyfriend. I hope he doesn’t mind that I’m using this movie of him here… If he does object, I’ll take it down, of course. And not just because he could totally kick my ass…

One of the things I remember from an Ethics in Journalism class is the idea of public footage. Basically, if you’re in a public place and someone films you, there’s very little you can do about it. I’ve got some serious qualms about that sort of thing from a civil-liberties standpoint, but I’m not going to get into that here. This was more of a public performance, like a street musician or a free concert, so different rules apply. In essence, it was Freddy’s performance. If he doesn’t like my camera work, or the sound quality or if there’s any reason he doesn’t think he looks good then he should have the right to veto my use of it.

Personally, I think it’s good stuff. So up it goes for now with the understanding that I’ll take it down if he objects. Enjoy.
