The more stuff I tear out of the bathroom, the more interesting things I learn about my house. The outer walls are insulated with cotton. Big battens of “Flame Pruf Cotton!” insulation from a company in Flint Michigan.
So I’ve got two walls clear of sheetrock and plaster. The plumbing to the tub has had shut-off valves added so that we don’t have to have water spraying all over the basement while we’re working. It used to be that the only shut off for that tub was the one for the whole house, and I don’t want to have to choose between remodeling and showering.
Speaking of the tub, it’s out. I strapped it to the moving dolly and hauled it out to the garage while my Dad and my Fiancee drove the cars around the block. It joins the bags of sheetrock and the toilet out there… If anyone wants a tub or a toilet, just let me know. I wanted to put them out at the curb with ‘Free!’ signs on them. I might put them on E-Bay or something with a 50 cent minimum bid. We’ll deliver them if the buyer is within 20 miles or so of Ann Arbor…
