Well, the big news from www.macminute.com is that the Mac version of Neverwinter Nights is due to come out with a “Beta Tech Demo” tomorrow.
It was supposed to have come out around Christmas time. Last year. I don’t know what the delay was from, and frankly I don’t much care…
I’ve been playing around with the PC version for a while, and even on my Fiancee’s slightly elderly Windows machine, it’s pretty keen. We got the PC version because the Mac release isn’t going to have the developers toolset… Personally, I think that’s a mistake, but since it’s taken this long to get the actual game out I can understand the company’s unwillingness to delay release any longer than necessary.
As far as the game itself goes, I’ve been impressed by the interface. The multiple camera angle option is a good thing… It’s good to be able to zoom around to get the lay of the land, but it’s also handy to be able to snap back to your character’s point of view. As far as the rest of the game goes, the radial menu system take a little while to get used to, but the combination of the menu and the ‘quick-slot’ interface works rather well.
I’ll post a more in-depth review once I get my hands on the beta… Tomorrow…
