Ow ow ow!

I don’t know if there’s been a reputable scientific study on this, but why do paper cuts hurt so much more than ordinary cuts? Is it something to do with the ragged edge of the paper compared to the smooth edge of an ordinary cutting implement? Or is it some left-over chemical from the paper making process?

Just in case you hadn’t guessed, I managed to give myself a heck of a nice paper cut. It’s right at the bend of the thumb, so keeps opening itself and stinging every time I try to do anything with my hand. Pick up a pencil? OW! Hit the space bar? OW!

And of course it’ll take a good long while to heal.
