Fall Painted Maple Leaves

RedEdgeMaple.jpg
Sometimes nature looks unnatural. Or at least unreal.

I used rubber stamps of various fall leaves to decorate our wedding invitations. I tried using a variety of different colored inks on a stamp pad until I came up with a sort of gradient from green through yellow to red-orange… I think they worked pretty well. They looked more believable than this, and it’s an actual leaf…

Preening birds

“Hold on, I wanna look good in this shot! I think I’ve got something on my back.”
“Me too! My feathers are all askew… I gotta check under my wing…”
*click*
“HEY! We weren’t ready!”

Pinecones

Pinecones.jpg
There’s a cluster of pine trees just outside of work that have changed from the standard capital “A” triangle shape to something that resembles a lowercase “f” due to the massive weight of pinecones on their upper branches…

Bye bye beetles..

Ladybug.jpg
I don’t know if this is an actual ladybug or one of those imports that plagued the area for a while. I’m also unsure if it really matters… It’s been cold enough lately that this is likely to be one of the last insect pictures of the year. I was actually kind of surprised to see this guy at all.

Office Building Demolition

CFOB-Shadow.jpg
Good bye to the old Clinical Faculty Office Building… It’s being demolished as part of the constant University Hospital expansion. I was only ever in the building twice, ‘way back during my tenure as a student employee and semi-professional computer geek. The impression I took away from the place was awkwardness. It was built in the late 1930’s, in the days before ergonomics or handicap accessibility. Getting a cartload of computers from floor to floor was an adventure, especially since the only elevator was the little dumbwaiter.

There are more demolition pictures in the extended entry…

It’s an ok picture. The real rainbow was much more vivid.

Jawa Cat

JawaCat.jpg
It got a little cold last night, so we piled some extra blankets on the bed. The “I” managed to burrow his way into a little cat shelter between the time we got up and the time that the bed got made…

Looks like ought to have a really sweet deal on some second-hand droids, eh?

Oi! Chip! Hold still, wouldja?

Chip.jpg
This little bugger was zipping around just outside of work. I took a half-dozen photos of it and this is the only one where it wasn’t a blur of fur…

Moth

Moth092003.jpg
This is a cat toy. It may not realize that it’s a cat toy, but that is the eventual destiny of any winged flapping insect in a house with two cats.

Either that or someone in the neighborhood kidnapped a pair of tiny singing twins from a remote pacific island…

He Is Our Hero

HeIsOurHero.jpg
A little something for the arachnophillic They Might Be Giants fans out there, of whom I know none. I think arachnophobic ones are much easier to find.
