This week’s comic sounds very similar to something else…

Howard Taylor (of Schlock Mercenary fame) has posted some incredibly useful directions over at his Livejournal, detailing how to remove the passenger seat of a VW bug.
Not that I’m likely to need these directions any time soon, but it’s still cool to know. We frequently drive the bug around with the back seat folded down for cargo area, and the idea of maximizing that area for hauling stuff is appealing, especially since the alternative is to take my Wife’s truck with its amazing 8 MPG V8 Engine. Great for hauling lots of heavy stuff around town, not so great for long distance drives.
When it comes down to it, the Q Household is kind of lacking in cars for carrying more than two or three people. The truck can fit three across the bench, barely, and the bug has seats and belts for four, but my Wife and I are both tallish people. And while the bug is plenty comfortable for one pair of six foot tall people, anyone over four foot that we’ve managed to wedge into the back will soon be looking back longingly on the days when they could feel their knees.

This week’s comic is all about this week’s comic.
There’s a bit of debate going on in my Wife’s office about which was the better movie, Transformers or the latest Harry Potter. Personally, I think it’s a toss-up since they are, in essence, the exact same movie dressed up in different clothes.
This could involve some spoilers for those of you who haven’t seen the movies, so the faint of heart should turn back now.

Calloused. Heartless. Exuberant. You carry the heavy burden of informing children that they are adopted by jumping out of their birthday cake. A difficult task, but somebody must break the news.

This looks awesomely neat and wicked cool – a turntable with direct USB connection to a computer for easy digitization of old vinyl records. It’s kind of unfortunate that it doesn’t have an 78 RPM setting – my folks have a bunch of old Victrola records that might be cool to update to a newer format. On the other hand, recording them at 45 RPM and then speeding it up by 173.3% should take care of the problem.
I especially like that the low end model has an input so that you can it up to your old stereo system to more easily digitize stuff that you’ve got on cassette tape.

They’re going down right now at the International House of Pancakes!
