Third Class Ticket

Our office sometimes needs fast turnaround / short run printing done. We usually go to one of the local Kinkos for that. One of the clerks we work with a lot is a guy named Peter. His mom wrote a book that is being turned into a movie…

Pick your level of obsession

I forget who coined the phrase “Everything in moderation.” It was probably Ben Franklin. He coined so many phrases he could have founded his own mint… I wonder if that’s where the Franklin Mint comes from?

Ok, I’ve wandered way the heck off topic already. I was going to talk about obsessions.

Moving, Movies, Demolition and More!

Sore and tired today, but it’s a good kind of tired.

The downstairs bathroom is stripped back to the plaster, and the only fixtures still in place are the tub and the toilet. The toilet comes out tonight. The tub leaves sometime later this week, depending on how tough it is to disconnect the plumbing. Probably Thursday, but I may want to wait until my dad gets here on Friday. The current debate is if we want to take the walls down all the way back to the studs and put up new drywall, or if we want to keep the existing plaster.

Quick update..

My Fiancee and I are having a night on the town before the Weekend of Bathroom Demolition. I’ve got a partial post together that I’ll probably put up tomorrow. In the meantime, have a happy Valentines day!

Tired and bruised

Had a fun scare this morning. I was heading down some stairs in a parking ramp and slid the last four or five steps on my butt. Foul memories

My freshman dorm was one of the most disgusting places I’ve ever lived. One day in particular stands out from the others.

I was taking a programming class, and four of my classmates were in the same dorm. One of them lived on my hall, up on the third floor. The other two were down on the first floor. The plan was that we’d take turns meeting in each others rooms and working on the group problems for the class.

We’d met in the third floor rooms for two weeks, then I was exposed to the full horror of the first floor.

Personal Space

There are two kinds of personal space. The first is the comfort zone that you have around your body. If someone steps into that zone without invitation, they’ve invaded your personal space.

The second, and much more interesting kind, is the uncomfortable zone that you keep inside your own head…

Smoking or Non-Smoking?

In the winter, I kind of feel sorry for smokers. You see them driving along with their window open just a crack in the worst conditions, freezing their butts off. There’s a fairly simple solution to their discomfort… Either quit smoking entirely or at least don’t smoke in the car.

It’s a different matter entirely when it’s the car, not the driver that’s doing the smoking.

Film vs. Video

We’re getting a ton of slides in… Most people have moved away from film in favor of LCD projectors, but every so often there’s a conference where they ask you to bring the old, low-tech alternative. There are advantages and drawbacks to each format of course.
