Save your money.

A co-worker of mine who knows far more about cars than I do sent me a link to an Auto Week article about Porche’s latest SUV offering. You have to realize that when it comes to car news, I’m out-of-touch enough that I hadn’t realized that Porche made an SUV.

Rock over London, Rock on Chicago.

RIP Wesley Willis.

Watermelon? Are you mad?

There’s a big chunk of watermelon in the break room. It’s sitting there on a plastic plate with a picnic knife in it, waiting for people to hack off a chunk and snack away. The whole room has a faint whiff of sweetness from it. And I think it’s got to be the worst possible food to bring in to share with people at work.

Happy Woodsman

Saw this happy guy on the way to the racetrack and just had to get a picture of him…

Happy Woodsman
Hoo boy…

I just don’t know where to start listing all the things that are just plain wrong with this image… It’s such a fertile field for a filthy mind.

Official Title

This will make no sense to anyone who doesn’t read the on-line comic “Ozy and Millie

My Ozy and Millie title is:
Lord Spiral Courgette Maxi-Lampshade Feline Dohickey Quirk (the Fifth) !

Patient Hopper
There’s a little swamp in one of the turns at the racetrack. It’s populated with all sorts of chirping critters… There’s probably a huge amount of insect inbreeding since you need to cross the track to leave, and that’s a good way to become flat.

ITB07 in Motion
This is the car that brought us there, in a manner of speaking. My Fiancee’s brother-in-law is driving… You may see this car in a couple of the pictures.

The blur on this shot is something of a fluke… It was bright enough that the shutter speed on most of my other shots was around 1/1000 sec., which pretty much froze things in place. This one I was messing around with changing the aperture and exposure, zooming in as tight as I could, and then moving the camera to compensate for the motion of the cars… This is the only one that came out as anything other than a total blur.

Solarcaine is my Friend

Good grief! I haven’t been this badly sunburnt since… Well, I don’t have an exact date or anything, but it’s been a very long time. Pre-high school somewhere. What’s really eerie is how sensitive the burnt skin is. It’s like I can feel individual threads in my shirtsleeves as they brush the back of my arm.

We Went to the Waterford Racetrack

And All I Got Was This Lousy Sunburn.

Well, no…. That’s not entirely true. I also shot a couple hundred photos that I’m gonna sort through soonish… I’ll post the best of ’em here.

Stormy skies…

RainCloud.jpg
Last night was lit like a horror movie set. Seriously, I could walk through the house safely without turning on a single light. I could see my way just with the strobe-like illumination from the lightning storm outside. I didn’t think to try to record it until it was dying down, but if you’d like a little taste of last night’s storm there’s a kinda grainy Quicktime movie linked to the cloud photo.
