New Carpet, Old Computer

They’ve replaced the carpeting in the hall outside my office. It’s got that sickly-sweet smell of fresh synthetics. And for some reason it reminds me of the Commodore VIC-20 that I used to have…

Monster Illness

Well, I was out sick yesterday… I’m pretty sure I can’t blame the movies that we watched Tuesday night, but it is tempting.

The little kitty has decided to crank up the cuteness quotient. Her new favorite snoozing perch is on the back of the livingroom recliner.

The Howling

HowlingTower.jpg
A friend of mine is running a Star Wars RPG and we meet Thursday nights at the Michigan Union. Last week we didn’t play… The GM and several of the players were probably stuck in traffic, but that didn’t matter because the building was closed because of the blackout anyway. My Fiancee and I hung out for a while, with my sis and my friend Donald, waiting for people to show and for the traffic to clear up. Then this kiosk across the street started making a horrific howling sound and venting steam out of its top…

Good things and bad things

The power failure was a mixed blessing I suppose. The office was closed all of Friday, which was both a good and a bad thing. I had a whole day off, but not in a voluntary sort of way. I wasn’t planning on spending Thursday night grilling in the dark, but that’s what worked. Anyway, the server is back up an running now. I’m clipping Smithee movies with badmovie and I’ll write more later…

The bloom of lateness

I’m blaming these flowers for us being late to work today, even though it’s actually my fault.

I tend to have repeating lame jokes. I’ll find something funny once and people near me will hear it over and over again.

Like if there’s a police car pulled over to the side of the road with a radar gun, I’ll probably say, “I wonder what they’re going to do with all that speed once they’ve trapped it?”

Even if I know that the person I’m with has already heard that lame-assed joke, I’ll say it anyway. I can’t help it.

Bread and Circuits

Looks like Panera Bread is going to be offering wireless internet access in addition to tasty bread, The Ann Arbor store doesn’t have it yet, but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time… I hope it doesn’t hurt Great Harvest too much.

Hurling carboys

I’m officially back on the exercise bandwagon again. I did a fairly hefty workout last night, to the point where I was having difficulty lifting my arms to adjust the shower afterwards. I woke up feeling a bit stiff this morning, but I’m barely even sore now. I think that’s a good sign. At the very least, it’ll encourage me to keep up the effort.
