Cranberry in the bottle

The cranberry wine is all nice and bottled up. It’s nice and sweet, and this time I made sure to add stabilizer so that it wouldn’t come back to life in the bottle. I also managed to prep the exact number of bottles I needed and just one extra cork.

Fallout

No, I’m not dead yet.

Yes, I know that’s part of a Monty Python skit, but I’m not going to link to it.

Ok, ok. Here. Happy now?

Geez, the things I do to keep up my geek cred…

So. I’m in Chicago.

I’m at a filmmaking seminar. It’s a work thing, so they’re footing the bill for the weekend. Meals and all sundries. They gave me a cash advance and I just have to make sure to get a receipt for everything I use and return the rest. I’m trying to figure out how best to handle the tips I’ve paid, but I’m sure there’ll be a line item or something on the inevitable paperwork when I get back.

The seminar is from Action/Cut, and is being run by Guy Magar. He’s an interesting guy to listen to, with lots of handy tips on shooting for TV and for movies… As well as lots of information on how to get yourself into the industry. Kind of a primer on Hollywood schmoozing.

W’ha?

What on Earth is Six Flags thinking?

The parks’ management, I mean. I’m sure the theme parks don’t do any actual thinking on their own.

Unless there’s something very strange going on.

Actually, I could kind of see a sort of emulated thinking machine, transmitting information with the park patrons as neurons. The rides and gates are circuits within a strange and occult system which has achieved a sort of slow sentience because of the way that the rides and walkways are organized…

But I digress. I was trying to rant about their advertisements.

Cr…Chromium

You scored 33 Mass, 22 Electronegativity, 66 Metal, and 10 Radioactivity!
Oooohaaaaah…. shiny! You probably have an incredibly stable and well-maintained group of friends… that probably also don’t get out much either. You’re not one to get bogged down by a problem. Of course, I’m basing this upon Chromium’s ultra-low water-exchange constant and it’s corrosion-resistant properties, and I wouldn’t be too surprised if the analogy doesn’t even apply.

Contemplating redesign

I’ve been learning more CSS stuff for some work sites and I’m contemplating doing a redesign of the ‘blog to incorporate some of what I’ve learned.

Not that I think a new design would be better or anything. I just want to use some toys I found.

Long time no see…

Ok, for the first time in an age and a half, I’m using a Campus computing cluster machine. It’s kinda freaky.

Hearts on Ice 2005

This is just a quick video promo for the 2005 Hearts On Ice benefit hockey game.

Restate the problem

“So how much would a website cost?”

Uh oh.

I hate when a client comes in and asks something like that. Mostly because there isn’t an answer.
