Ok, so you all know that my brain is full of wedding plans and all the rest of the pressure that comes from organizing a party for a couple dozen family and friends from out of town… So I haven’t really mentioned that I’m also in the midst of doing Smithee preparation. The U-con Mini-Smithees are a week after the wedding, so, you know… no pressure there…
My fiancee had noticed that I was on a bit of a grouch this Saturday before the rehearsal, and now that I’m thinking about it I guess I can trace some of it to the standard Smithee Stress that makes me such lovely company in the days leading up to a show. It’s something of a relief. I’m used to Smithee Stress. Wedding stress is something new and different. I’ve never been married before, but I’ve had to deal with Smithee Stress many times before.
As far as the show goes, BadMovie and I are well ahead of the game. We’ve watched the movies, digitized the brief clips we need for the show, assembled the category timelines and done basically all of the “heavy lifting” of the show. At this point, I could write it out to VHS tape and call it done. Instead, I’m going to be bringing the digital clips into Apple’s DVD Studio Pro for assembly. Sure it’s an extra step, but it makes for a much cooler show.
All I need to do is find some time to actually do that last step…
