Yesterday after arriving for the Transplant games, Ellie (she’s the Transweb head honco) and I zipped over to a little campus print shop across from our lodgings to pick up the little yellow “Hi we’re Transweb” cards that we hand out during the games. While we were there, I spotted something we’re probably going to need, and which none of us thought to pack. An umbrella.
Of course, it wasn’t that difficult to spot it. It’s bright purple.
Sure, that and white are the colors of the University of Western Ontario. but bright purple is also the color of the official Transweb T-shirts. So the umbrella is perfect.
As far as the expense report for it is concerned, we’re filing it under “Preventive Maintenance.” Because if a camera or a computer gets wet, it’s going to cost a lot more to get it fixed than the cost of the umbrella.
It’s also extremely handy for poking elevator buttons and propping open doors when you’ve got your hands full of equipment and you’re looking for your office. The resemblance to a bright purple lightsaber is just a coincidental bonus.
