January Smithee Movies

So, we watched a couple of really bad movies this weekend. The first was an Anna Nichole Smith action movie called “To The Limit” and the second was a joint US/Japanese movie called “Virus.”

So… There have been some thefts around the office. Someone got hold of a set of keys and has been using them to get things like ID badges, laptops, purses and cameras. Very not good. A couple of years ago, when we got our current office, we had the locks changed so that there would be fewer people with access to our stuff. According to Security, there had been somewhere close to 50 keys made for the old lock, of which only a dozen were accounted for. The new lock only has five keys, and we know who has those.

Mountain Chicken

One of the things I like about going to the hospital Wendy’s around noon is the sense of adventure. There’s so much going on, and such poor traffic flow, that sometimes you’ll be given the opportunity to try new and different foods from what you actually ordered.

I shouldn’t mock them… I’m sure their actual error rate is quite low, but given the volume of orders that they fill, and the odd location that they’ve been crammed into, things sometimes go awry. They’re really good about fixing mixups, but sometimes I don’t mind taking what they give me and trying it out, especially if it’s something new.

Yesterday, for example, I got to try out their special “Mountain Style” spicy chicken sandwich… And I don’t ever have to have it again.

You know what the toughest part of comedy is?

I took the day off of work (thus the late update) and did a lot of the last minute running around. Right now, all of the table decorations and favors and such are in the back of the truck along with the sound system… Pretty much everything but the beer and wine is loaded up and ready to go. It’s all locked up in the garage… It’d suck to have it all stolen out of the back of the truck two days before the wedding. That’s a lot of origami critters to fold in a very short time.

A hill of beans

I’m vaguely depressed, or at least mildly distressed, from last night’s dinner. My fiancee and I popped over to the brewpub near the Dojo for dinner last night and discovered that their excellent three bean vegetarian chili is off the menu…

There’s a new serif in town…

Lore Fitzgerald Sjöberg, former frontman for the Brunching Shuttlecocks, has a new webcomic up and running at www.lorebrandcomics.com. Go check out the archives, and his ‘blog at slumbering.lungfish.com.

And in case you’re wondering what that has to do with the title, I just like his font choices.

Snail Mail – Shareware Review

UPDATED – Bug fix version forthcoming!

I kinda mentioned this program in an earlier entry, but I’ve been using it a lot lately, so I figure it’s worth going a little more in-depth about it.

SnailMail is a program that lets you print the addresses from the built in Mac OS X Address Book. You can print either a list of addresses, or you can create envelope layouts with defined areas for mailing address and return address. Those are the basics… The program has other features that make it really interesting.

Good grief! First Mac Neverwinter Nights, and now this… How do the gods of time wasting know that my wedding is coming up in November?

Mac Neverwinter first impressions

The full release version of the Mac Neverwinter Nights arrived on Friday! Just in time to be shuffled aside while we finished cleaning and prep work for the party on Saturday… I was able to play around with it for a bit on Sunday and, so far, it’s pretty darn impressive. I did note a few oddities in multiplayer mode though.

Arr.

My folks were down for my Grandma’s birthday this weekend. She turned 92 on Friday. Happy Birthday Gra’ma! It’s amazing the sort of people who are on the internet now, isn’t it? I’m not saying that she is, just that she could be… So her party was at noon on Friday, so my Fiancee and I couldn’t attend… We sent flowers, which were well received.

After that, my folks came down to visit. Saturday afternoon we hung out and headed out for dinner and a movie. My folks are from Up North, and the movie places up there tend to damage their prints after the first couple showings, so it was a bit of a treat for them to see a movie without a huge scratch down the middle. We hit Pirates of the Caribbean, and it was awesome.
