I’m drinking break room coffee this morning for the first time in a very long time. I guess I’ve been avoiding it, mostly because I’ve been doing the “lots of water” thing, but partially because it’s just not that good. Today the heat is worth the flavor. I just need something warm to drink to help break up my sinus congestion and soothe my throat. Y’see, it’s cold season, and I’m brewing up a doozy in my nasal passages.
I’ve already got death voice. If I’m talking quietly, like on the phone or to someone two or three feet away I sound fine. The second I raise my voice to be heard across the office, I sound like I should be proclaiming the supremacy of the Gorfian Empire and telling a space cadet to bite the dust.
Ok, I just realized how few people will get that, and now I feel old.
Anyway, the break room coffee is helping a bit, and I’ve got a notion to do some chicken soup this evening. My Fiancee is coming down with the same sort of thing, so now it’s something of a race to see who can recover first. The winner gets to coddle the loser… Or should that be the other way around?
I may post something more later on, if time permits. The other two guys in the office are busting their butts on a short-deadline web project, so I’m covering the poster printing, scanning, photography, design work and other sundries for a while. I just hope the cold stays mild enough that I don’t have to take a sick day.
