Duck Update

I parked in the dorm lot this morning, which means I walk past the nesting area. The duck is back! Looks like she’s settled in for the long haul. According to the FAQ at www.liveducks.com, the eggs should hatch in about a month… So by the end of June there should be ducklings.

I’ll keep you all posted…

Random thinking

If Andy Serkis took up downhill skiing, would he compete in a Gollum Slalom?

Cafe Depreesed

There’s a great rant over at the Inktank site about the new CafePress policy agreement. Having read through it I’ve got to agree that the situation kinda sucks.

What the Duck?

The duck is back again. I don’t know if it had parked itself there sometime during the day, or if I’d just missed it on the way in yesterday morning, but yesterday afternoon on my way out to the car it was there. I think I might have just missed it. The feathers blend in with the woodchips and it was sufficiently rainy that I didn’t want to make a careful search.

If this keeps up, I may create a new category just for the duck.

Nice day, for a duck.

Rainy, wet, cold and pretty miserable out there this morning. And the duck update is that there is no duck. I think it realized that nesting in a high traffic area was a bad idea…

Death by gumballs!

No entry today…

Wait. That’s a contradiction right there isn’t it… Ah well.

No animation at least. I’m still working on how to build a giant hill of gumballs. It’s for an animation.

Really.

Hopefully it’ll be up tomorrow some time, then you’ll all understand.

Delegation

It’s nice being in a relationship where you know you can count on the other person’s strengths to compensate for some of your weaknesses. Being able to cooperate and delegate helps reduce stress and builds bonds of trust and affection. For example, I love cooking, so I do most of the meals for the household. My fiancee is more particular than I am about how clothing gets cared for, so she handles the laundry. I’m meticulous about money, so I take care of making sure that the bills get paid on time. She likes houseplants, I don’t mind driving long distances. She takes care of the high-energy, spleen-venting, vitriolic rants, I mow the lawn. It’s an equitable distribution of responsibility.

Hallo from the Northlands

Just a quick hey from up north. The UP is still here. I’ve got photos to prove it, and I’ll post them sometime after I get back. Right now I’m connected via my dad’s old PowerMac… It’s approaching antique status for computers, but it still works great for internet stuff.

All this and brains too!

Funky day at work… I did my first live operating room recording this morning, which means I spent about seven hours standing around in blue pajamas, a mask, and a stretchy shower cap while pointing a video camera at a hole in someone’s head. And the strange part was that it was a lot of fun.

My day isn’t going to suck

Sometimes you see something in the morning that lets you know that, no matter how bad the day is going to be for you, it can’t be as bad as it already is for someone else.
