Snail Mail – Shareware Review

UPDATED – Bug fix version forthcoming!

I kinda mentioned this program in an earlier entry, but I’ve been using it a lot lately, so I figure it’s worth going a little more in-depth about it.

SnailMail is a program that lets you print the addresses from the built in Mac OS X Address Book. You can print either a list of addresses, or you can create envelope layouts with defined areas for mailing address and return address. Those are the basics… The program has other features that make it really interesting.

Noggin smacking weekend!

So… How many people out there got hit in the head this weekend? And how many of us remember how it happened?

I’m on the first list, but gosh darn it if I failed to qualify for the second… All I know is that I’ve got a tender spot on the back of my head and a heck of a goose egg behind my right ear. My fiancee took a look at it last night and my scalp looks a bit abraded, so it must have been quite a whack. Pity that I don’t remember any of the details…

I hate flies

I really really hate flies. And, unfortunately, the house has a minor plague of fruit flies. Little annoying buggers that you can barely see, but which drift into your eyes or up your nose. I think they can smell the sugar and the fruit in the gasses that the blueberry wine is giving off as it works. They tend to congregate around the carboy, even though they can’t get into it.

Which means practically nothing if you don’t speak medical.

Fortunately, you’ve got me here to provide a translation.

Basically, it’s skeleton spackle.

And it’s back…

Booniverse fans rejoice! It’s back! Leaner and meaner, and powered by a shiny new version of Movable Type…

Yes, I said I didn’t want to do a whole ‘delete and reinstall’ thing, but I did it anyway, dammit, and it worked. Restoring the entry database from the backup tapes let me recover all but two or three of the published entries, and the text for them was easy to nab from their saved html files. Just goes to show how important it is to have a good backup system…

Baffled!

And I’m not talking about the Leonard Nimoy movie. I’m getting ready to poke a sharp stick into the server and start wiggling… My Fiancee’s blog has vanished in a strange way.

He Is Our Hero

A little something for the arachnophillic They Might Be Giants fans out there, of whom I know none. I think arachnophobic ones are much easier to find.

Stampers cramp

We had a nice soggy three day weekend here, but we got a stack of wedding stuff done… My Fiancee and her mom did some test-baking of cookies for table favors, while I prepared about a hundred pages of parchment for use as invitations.
